Emery's Story

This is not only the story of Emery's arrival, but also the story of the biggest surprise of our lives.

Growing our family wasn't easy...until we learned (with shock!) we were pregnant.  Here I was in February, one week into a new job and with an 8 month old, in amazement and shock and fear.  How quickly we would become a family of 5!  It's something we hoped for our future, but not something we planned or were ready for!

I knew she was a girl early on. I just knew it.  And knew Hadley would have a sister - something I wanted for her so badly!

Overall, I felt great this pregnancy.  No time to rest or complain. Or eat apparently because I majorly kept my weight in check this time. Yay me!

We had great appointments and no concerns.  Until one day I knew something was different. On the Thursday before Labor Day weekend, we didn't realize it then but it was the start of an unexpected end to our pregnancy.  I just felt different.  I felt heavy.  And sore.  Almost weighed down.  We had been having ultrasounds to ensure we were hanging in there with a strong cervix.  We had just been to the dr the day before even with no change!  We had a great Labor Day weekend and I just chalked it up to being busy and on the move constantly.

Then two weeks later things changed.  I learned at the appointment (seriously the only one David missed) that I lost about a centimeter in cervical length.  Pretty much leaving me with nothing holding this babe in!  I was hooked up for a non-stress test and we didn't find any contractions.  It was from this chair that I texted David the news.  Not thinking about how it would be like to read a text like that.  Oops!  He immediately called ;)

So-bed rest was the answer!  Not prepared at work, mentally or emotionally for this news I must have looked like a deer in headlights.  But, nothing was worth the risk of early labor!

Every week got easier mentally and harder physically.  How can lying in bed make you so sore?  Thankfully I was able to work from home and was actually pretty darn efficient!

Well, bed rest worked and we made it to about 38.5 weeks! Yay Emery!

Onto the big day...
As like every other day, I was feverishly working to wrap up loose ends at work, prepare my maternity leave plan and tasks for my co-workers and stay on top of things!  We had an appointment in the morning and I honestly didn't feel much different than the previous week.  It was starting to become a bit comical that we tried so hard to make this baby stay, he or she might miss their due date now!

Well, as predicted we didn't make much progress from the prior week.  However, our doctor was just about as ready to meet this baby as we were!  He told us if we returned to the hospital with contractions later in the day, we would not be turned away.  His way of nicely saying "I can't induce you, but won't send you home either" and leaving it up to us on how to interpret that!

We left his office around noon and I drove to Fishers to pick up an IU bball t-shirt for Brady (priorities!) and there it was - the start of contractions.  They were painless, random and far apart.  But, they were there.  As with Brady's labor...fear of another "hadley experience" weighed heavy, so while the contractions weren't much, I couldn't ignore them. Back home after that errand and back to working...I paid close attention but still didn't feel pain or see a pattern.  But, they did start to become closer together (5 or 6 minutes at times).  David politely saying "I would rather sit at the hospital and work than be home working and rushing to the hospital" was his way of saying 'let's just go already!'

So, with Hadley off at the salon with Grammy and Lins on deck to relieve Kim and hang with Brady, we went to the hospital to meet this baby!

Little did we know this would be the slowest labor yet.  Weren't they supposed to be faster each time?  We checked in around 3:20 and were in our room getting settled by 3:30 ( I can't say how much I love this hospital and how it is always so quiet and calm on the L&D floor!!)  We were a mere 5 cm dilated at this time (boring!).  So, we watched TV, debated on if we should tell people we were even there, sat in silence, daydreamed and then got bored. So, we did the textbook thing and walked around.  Which does nothing by the way...It was so quiet and nearly every room was empty so the walk was also pretty boring.  I decided we should just go back and watch wheel of fortune instead :)  A quick dinner for the doctor and david (and bumping into Grammy and Gramps in the cafe!) helped pass the time.

Finally by 7:40 (4 hours later!! geesh!) contractions were a bit more painful and closer to 3-5 min apart.  I was hesitant to have the doctor break my water...but everyone else was definitely in favor of it.  I think the dr. and nurses were bored with us!  I finally realized the pain was inevitable and all I was doing was prolonging that reality so...I sucked it up and went with the team!  By 8:30 I was 7-8 cm dilated and the Dr. broke my water (also something we had to do with H & B) and thus started this delivery process!  By 9:55, I was majorly uncomfortable, barely talking and decided it was time - so three contractions and pushes later we met miss Emery at 10:14 p.m.

The NICU team was on hand since there was meconium in my water when they broke it, but she came out screaming so all was well!  She was perfect - the perfect size, the perfect round head and her own long eyelashes to boot.  She was alert, eyes open in the hospital (I swear we didn't see Hadley's eyes until we got home) and was hungry.  actually hangry.  she was a crier, wanted to eat, and barely slept in the hospital.  Boy did we have our hands full (and still do!)

Emery's story is still a surprise to us at times...but now as we look at our family it would be hard to imagine it without her.  Without Hadley having her sister, without being able to say "the girls" or "the bigs" and without the 45 minutes it takes to leave the house.  We laugh when we think we used to be busy, or evenings used to be hard.  We've been shown a new level of logistics and coordination, relied on an even greater army of people (including overnight help-a whole new need for us!) and feel incredible blessed to have this wonderful chaos surrounding us.

Cheers to a Emery's first year being memorable, but maybe less exciting, than 2014.

Blessings disguised as chaos

We've made it 4 weeks on bedrest!  Exciting yet anxiety-inducing!  When will this baby come? What does that pain mean?  How come we can't go to dr every day for peace of mind??

With all the help the last 4 weeks have required, it's easy to get frustrated or overwhelmed, and lose sight of the best part of all-that B3 is getting close to full term and that's all that matters.

Chaos abounds in this home in the evenings. We have help every evening with people coming and going, our kids are crashing at an earlier time, if you don't feed or take Brady away from the kitchen by 5:45 you're doomed and Hadley is exercising her in-between age at her best (am I a baby? Am I a big girl? I can't decide!).

I told David tonight that it must be a full moon. Hadley had a split personality.  Brady was back to only wanting me (Nonnie!!! He yells!) and they just didn't stop until their heads hit their beds.  David calls on his way to lowes to say that it really is a full moon.  Ha!

Reflecting on Hadley's behavior David says "I think we have it really easy."  And there you have it. The "smack across the face" reminder that 95% of the time she is an overly helpful and mature 3 year old, that we are very lucky to have family and friends close to help and the fact that I'm what provides Brady comfort is an amazing feeling.

There are many blessings disguised as chaos-and more coming our way!  I can only imagine what our house will be like come November.  It makes me sleepy to think about it.

Is tomorrow the day?

and just like that...

2014 is 3/4 of the way over (almost).  There have been so many times I wanted to or was inspired to post to the blog.  And then there wasn't time, and so a photo went up on Instagram or via text instead.

Since this year has been one to remember (that's nearly laughable at this point!) I thought I should at least try to capture the milestones.  And will photo dump later.  Love my iPhone but hate that I don't take more pics with the camera or make more photo albums.  We will work on that in 2015...

So, here goes nothing...

2014
based on Sara's memory...which is bleak.  Disregard any errors :)

January

  • Sara and kiddos survived the polar vortex with David traveling
  • Sara conquered Whole 30.
February (so far, this month takes the cake!)
  • Sara, Grammy, Hads & Brady ventured to Boston.  Travel was a success!
  • Sara enjoyed not being on Whole 30 in Boston! Hello wine...
  • Hadley's 1st trip to the ER and 1st stitches
  • Sara interviewed for and accepted a new job, managed two weeks of overlap between new and old jobs and said goodbye to her LLS family after 6 years (whoa)
  • After only a week on the new job, a discovery was made - B3 was on his or her way (WHAT?)
March
  • Seriously cannot remember much happening in March (phew) aside from normal 1st trimester stuff, the discussions on "um, should we move??" and prepping for April vacation
  • We told the Lehman's about B3 and started car shopping for a third row vehicle!
April
  • Sara and David jetted off to Mexico with the Evernhams...what was already their babymoom became one we shared.  The announcement to them was priceless...
  • And, while telling the Wannamakers about B3 via Facetime from Mexico...we learned baby W #2 is on the way - yippee!
  • We told David's family about B3 and started to tell our friends too!
May

  • We make an offer on a house and it's accepted!!  Get ready Carmel, here we come!
  • Ramsey drive on the market!
  • Memorial Day Weekend getaway to Greensboro...the big girls had a blast as always, Brady survived the girls and a connecting flight and Sara & Cameron sat around and chatted pregnancies. So fun to have kiddos close in age!
June

  • Brady turns 1!
  • Sara is 20 weeks pregnant at Brady's 1st birthday (we are still in shock to some extent at this point)
  • Ramsey Drive sells!
July
  • Close on both homes, within a week, David is a GC for a week and managed vendors and the move like a rockstar
  • Sara leaves for a week of business travel right after moving in (poor timing!)
  • Hadley starts sleeping in a big girl bed!
  • Hadley enjoys two weeks of swim lessons
  • New house gets so much needed love...floors, paint, updates, etc.  So much more to come!
August
  • The Glenns and Lehmans sneak off to South Haven for a week - so much fun!
  • A third row car is now ours...whoa!
  • Hadley turns 3!
  • We continue to settle into the house and enjoy the pool a bit more
  • The Waldners come to Indiana!  Hadley's best 2 weeks ever!
  • Hadley is rocking the big girl potty!
September
  • Labor Day weekend pool party is a blast.   This weekend is the start to Sara feeling "different" for some reason
  • We have a walker - finally!  He's been able to walk for weeks, but wouldn't use it as his primary mode of transportation until literally 15 months exactly.  Silly boy.
  • Sara is put on bed rest - a shock to her, our home and our work-lives.

That's all for now...I think I should just continue to update this list to keep to laugh at one day.  One day..

Glenns...Party of 4

One week before his due date, Brady Lehman Glenn joined our family.   Yes, a boy.  We thought we were having another girl - what do we know??   Here is a little story about Brady's arrival....

His arrival story started for us on Tuesday.  I had been running around like crazy at work for the last week hoping to make Tuesday my last day at work.  I was getting more uncomfortable in the afternoons, knew if I didn't draw a hard line in the sand I would have a harder time leaving work and I was majorly stressed about the list of things to do at home.  Not to mention that in my mind, there would be a baby by Sunday...so I need to get those things done!

Tuesday:  I started thinking that I wasn't feeling that great and things felt different.  I had more pressure and tightening and major heartburn making me feel almost nauseous.  I called David to give the requisite heads up, called the dr. and decided to visit Labor & Delivery to be sure.  We also promised our Dr. that if we felt different in any way that we would play it safe.  Operation Avoid 30 Minute Delivery was in full effect!  We were only in L&D triage for about an hour, only at 3-4 cm (no change since appointment the week before) and decided to head home instead of stay and walk around.

Wednesday:  Home from work, but still on email and doing stuff along with my plans for the pool and a pedicure.  Hadley had other plans with a bad morning, visit to the dr, diagnosed ear infection and throwing up twice.  Poor kiddo.

Thursday:  A great acupuncture appointment to start the morning (Hadley is with Grammy this day, no school for her!).  David at acupuncture said my pulse was stronger - a sign in his "world" that labor is near.  Hmmm.    Then a 2:15 appointment with our Dr. Still 3-4 cm, so we decided to strip membranes.  She gave us an option of doing that or breaking my water to get things going.  We laugh at these options because they seem SO different to us!  The baby has been super low for a long time at this point and we were 80% effaced for many weeks too.  We hoped stripping membranes was all we needed.  We ended with a fun evening at the park for a concert, fun with friends and dinner.

Friday:  Hadley went to school so mama was on an errand mission.  I am happy to report all items were found and all stops made!  I felt a few contractions but nothing consistent or painful.  We all went to bed early and crashed after a crazy week.

Saturday: THE day!  I was up 4-5 times to use the restroom overnight, which is a lot for me.  I kept wondering if this meant something.  duh Sara.  I got up in the 6 o'clock hour and could tell things were tight and there were a few contractions. I woke David up and decided to get ready for the day...thinking (without overreacting!) that this might be our day.  I had contractions while in the shower, but again nothing I couldn't handle and continued to get ready. I kept texting Megan (neighbor, friend extraordinaire and mom to ParkerChase) about her help that morning. We decided she would come over to get Hads once we heard from the Dr.  I called the Dr. around 7:45- which was after an hour or so with contractions.  We never got a call back due to some pager confusion.  So, Megan came over around 8:15 and we left the house around 9 and decided to just show up at the hospital.  We were examined by 9:30 and were now 5-6 cm dilated.  Contractions still weren't that painful or consistent, I thought, so we weren't even sure if we'd have to stay.  But, by 10:30 we were in our Labor & Delivery room and hanging out.  Lots of options on how to proceed but we could not make a decision.  We made no decisions with Hadley's arrival so now being asked to make them was somewhat debilitating.   How does one know what is best in this situation?  It came down to waiting or breaking my water.  We chose to wait.  At around 12:45 the contractions were super painful and learned we were now at 8 cm.  Our plan became to finish an IV bag of saline, receive a low dose epidural and then break my water.  Shortly after 1 p.m. we started the saline on the super fast flow.  Around 1:30 we were set up to get the epidural.  We did a low dose one, only to learn it only took on my left side.  The right side of my body being a "hot spot" they said.  We waited a bit to see if it would even out, if laying with my left side propped up would help, etc.  Close to 2 p.m. we were working to readjust my position thinking that we might administer some more epidural to attack the hot spot.  Well - my water broke instead so it was go time!  Dr. Meltzer (OB) said we were better off to just go with it and not address the right side.  So, everyone around me hustled to get ready, I just sat with my eyes closed wincing through the constant pain and David geared up to get us through this.  Two contractions later - HE was here!

Recovery is going really well so far - I think better than with Hadley if I can remember!  Family has met the prince and we know we will have lots of friends to the house soon.  Brady and I even snuck in a quick nap today after he was circumcised.  This pace will not continue at home so we are taking advantage of it!  Hadley was adorable meeting him last night...but a little stinker today.  I can't blame her, it's all confusing and a hospital room is a weird place to hang out.  And what is this baby thing doing with her mommy and daddy???  Being at home can only be better for her.

Enjoy some more photos!  Our photographer came to capture Hadley and Brady's big meeting - we cannot wait to see those from her!

38+3

We aren't as far progressed as we were with Hadley at this time, but she was born at 39 weeks & 1 day so we aren't far behind.

Today was my last day in the office.  I still have to meet with my boss and go over some things, but am off the hook tomorrow since she is out of town.  It sounds like the perfect day for a pedicure and the pool :)

This is me tonight at 38 weeks and 3 days.  This baby is cooked!  He or she has shifted positions and continues to move constantly.  My heartburn is awful right now (I am thinking because of the new placement) and some mild back pain. Nothing in comparison to the back pain with Hadley, but something we are monitoring closely of course since Hadley caused back labor.  We go back to the Dr. on Thursday and will check progress then.

As everyone is joking - we do hope to make it to the hospital on time and have our plans in place.  Hadley's team is on deck, her Big Sis shirt has arrived, our bags are packed and the car seat is in the car.

Just bring on the baby!  My thoughts are that we could have a baby by Sunday.  But, this baby could be late and put us in hours of labor - just to be different than Big Sissy.

The house is getting cleaned tomorrow, both cars are cleaned, the carpets are getting shampooed on Thursday and the nursery is "Grammy Pam" clean thanks to her help on Friday.

Are we ready?  Of course! :)

happy memorial day

We've had a fun-filled weekend so far...and I even enjoyed Thursday and Friday off from work! I ran one million errands and totally wore myself out (can you tell by this pic from Friday night?)

This is our fam, with me at 37 weeks.  Getting close!

baby #2

is coming...so we better get ready!

This is me at 29 weeks, 6 days.  About to turn the corner where our weeks start with a 3.  Yikes!  Sadly, this is the first bump picture we have taken.  As the second and youngest child, this 2nd pregnancy is giving me a little more perspective on why so many more photos of Erin exist! ha!  There just isn't time to focus on this/myself/my belly/etc.  We have a toddler with immediate needs who needs to be fed, taught, cleaned, watered and loved.  That toddler who, as I am typing this, is laying in her bed reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar to herself as she goes to bed.  I love that kid!

We are making the smallest progress possible for this baby.  On Friday, we restarted the "what should we name this baby" conversation.  No good lists created or decisions made, but we asked the question, right?  I also called a painter today to paint Hadley's big girl room and her bathroom.  Itty, bitty, tiny baby steps.

Just this week I've had two dreams where we had a girl.  I have girl on the brain but can't decide if it is because of this baby or because we have a girl...just not sure how to differentiate.  One of the dreams had us searching for our own baby in the nursery to learn what we had. We found HER and she was 10.5 pounds.  Yikes!  Not gonna happen...my doctor likes us too much :)

Overall, I feel good, this baby is thriving, I've passed the tests and blood work at the doctor and somehow am keeping my weight in check. I am exhausted to put it mildly.  But, I am assuming that has as much to do with Hadley as it has to do with baby #2.  We now go to the Dr. every two weeks which is always fun.  I love the checkups but hate the reminder of how quickly two weeks can pass!

The nursery has a plan if it's a boy (adding navy, orange and green) and will stay the same if it is a girl.  We will move Hadley as soon as her room is painted and cleaned so she can get used to it.

Hadley has some updates too - but this post is for baby #2 so those can wait :)

Maybe I'll share another photo during the next 10 weeks!

a special thanksgiving

because we were able to make this announcement....

2013 is going to be a great year.  Hadley was our "back to school special" with her August birthday.  baby #2 will be our "summer special" and baby and I will spend a summer vacation on maternity leave (I am picturing this as being incredible relaxing and me by the pool.  don't ruin this vision just yet, please! :) )

I join 4 other ladies that I grew up with who are due in May & June. I also join new college and "adult life" friends who are due in the spring and early summer.  It is quite the baby boom and saying we are blessed and thankful to be a part of it doesn't even begin to express our feelings.

Fun times ahead!

hurry up and wait

So the ticker on the blog says 7 days left. Didn't it just say 147 days left? Hmmm

Here we sit at 39 week exactly. An interesting place to be after a week on bedrest. But, we are grateful for a healthy baby, no discomfort, no swelling and really no reason to complain. In hindsight - this hasn't been too bad :)

Here we are at 38 weeks and 3 days this past weekend:

And today at 39 weeks exactly.
Different clothes and angles make a huge difference! We are still sitting at 5 cm with some decisions to make ahead of us as to what we are interested in and willing to do as we approach our due date next week.

We are getting anxious to meet the little one!

black is apparently slimming

I mean, I don't even look pregnant, right? :)

35 weeks, 2 days
This is what I look like after a week of work - yikes!

Double date night - thinking it could be the last supper. It was not
37 weeks, 3 days
with baby #1 of course

Now - back to my Sunday nap!

bought - 1 week

We have successfully lasted one week off bedrest! Well, at least one work week. A crazy, long-hour, running around, frantic work week.

I also realized that I have already made TWO whole sacrifices for this baby. Muy generosa, I know. I mean aside from giving he or she a place to live for 37 weeks, 2 days and counting, of course....

I pretty much have no garden. I sacrificed the garden for the air conditioning and comfort for mommy and baby. I think I am done with squash but have tons of green toms. Hopefully they ripen okay. I brought in 4 guys tonight, but have come to terms with the fact that my yield is quite depressing. next year, I tell ya!

Second sacrifice? Fresh cut and color before baby arrival cancelled to instead go to acupuncture to get body ready for baby. My favorite acu guy and the hair appointment were both only available this week on Friday at 11. awesome. When I told David I sacrificed my hair for acupuncture (i.e. the baby) he responded with "I wish you could do both." Was that a dig about the state of my hair? Or a genuine thoughtful husband comment that I shouldn't have to make a sacrifice. I am going with #2 of course!

We go back to the Dr. on Monday and this time my mindset is that we are okay if we go to the hospital and don't leave until we are driving home Baby Glenn. And, we are also okay if we have not progressed. Thankfully I am not swollen, have yet to gain 50 pounds and am actually not that uncomfortable. I might get antsy eventually - but have already decided that I will just assume this baby is a "Lehman" and is stubborn. It might be a trait my dad and I have. Might be.

Look for an update on Monday!

free

to do housework, laundry, empty the dishwasher and go back to work  -  I think David is thrilled :)

No updates from the Dr. today other than I am off house arrest - woo hoo!  We don't know if this week halted progression or if  I still progressed as we opted out of the physical exam so that it didn't trigger something in and of itself.  Next week though - I think we are going for it!

So, she said no jumping jacks - but back to life as normal.  While I was nervous alllllll day today waiting for the appointment and convincing myself that we weren't ready (or I wasn't ready!) now I feel a little more confident and a little less like a ticking time bomb.

I still may take matters into my own hands to do what I can to try and get Baby Glenn here before the Waldners arrive on Aug. 22....so I might just need the state fair (aka operation walk the baby out) or old wives tales after all.  And acupuncture? Sign me up!

Until the next appointment....

this guy

has been pretty incredible this week. Well, I guess Harley has too, but I am talking about the human guy in the photo.

I don't know if it is his form of nesting, his need to be the man of the house and take care of everything or just the realization that I can't do anything around the house this week  - but he has been motoring around to get things done.

The funniest thing for me this week?  David rushes into the house all flustered with his arms full of random stuff.  As he dumps it on the counter he proclaims "Aren't you proud of me for not using plastic bags?  This is from FOUR STORES!"  crack. me. up.

of course I am proud, considering he balked at not using plastic bags, among other things, and has really started to get behind and even lead some things around this house to make it more green.  and I love that he loves Fresh Market now, and gets excited about local sweet corn, and chooses good meat and is just cute all around of course. duh.

Just a little shout out to DG, before this blog turns to baby Glenn-only updates.  He is working hard, continuing to cycle and still make sure this house doesn't fall apart.  I really really hope this bedrest ends on Monday so I can nest more too!

the road to baby

just got a little bit more exciting....or boring for me...depending on how you look at it.

Let's recap - 35wk5day appointment today.  Strep B test as expected and first "exam" of the baby carrier (aka me).  Well, if only I could have captured the look on the Doc's face, and then mine as well, when he said we were 4 cm dilated.

Um, what?

Oh, and very effaced (didn't give a % or anything, just used the words "very soft")

Um, huh?

Now, I know that we can stay this way for a long long time in the world of labor, but the fact that I am now on what is pretty much bed rest for the rest of the week made me think that the Doc isn't expecting us to stick around 4cm for long.

My thought process: holy crap, how can I miss work, I gave myself august 1 as the date to be ready, who will go to my meetings, how will the work get done, etc. etc. nothing about me or the baby's health, mind you.

David's thought process: holy crap, we need a baby name (2 actually), how to get his wife home asap, how is he going to train/ride this week, asking the Doc to tell me that I can't work and he means it!

The Doc's thought process: let's be positive! telling me that I won't be in labor for 25 hours when it happens considering the dilation is 40% complete, and that I won't go full term (therefore not a 10lb baby most likely!) all things that are true and I can appreciate too

So - there you have it.  This baby isn't coming now, but apparently isn't going to wait until August 24th.

I guess I should start working on that baby book....

Friday, July 22, 2011

*big* baby day

literally.  Two baby boys born today, and both weighed in at nearly 9 pounds.  Holy moly!  I am not going to lie - that makes me a little nervous!

But, more than nervous, it makes me really excited!  I am the next person on our baby boom list.  I am in my 35th week.  And, as everyone likes to remind me that "anything can happen."  i.e. pack our bag!

I had a great massage today and love love love Megan and her magical hands!  It felt great and came at a great time when I was exhausted from heat and work.  I just need to get a few pedicures on the calendar too :)

So, from now until baby it is time to shop, relax and follow any and every old wives tale to bring on this baby on time!  Erin and the kiddos are coming!!  So, pray for an on-time or few days early arrival.  Do you think "operation walk the baby out" or better known to most as the Indiana State Fair is an old wives tale??

I have some belly pics to upload and will get to that soon!  Until then, it's back to air conditioning and laying around.  Oh the life :)

sneak peek

The nursery is coming along - so much so that David claims we can bring a baby home - no problem! I know he is right (sigh) but there are still "touches" that will happen eventually.  Maybe after the little one arrives and we know the sex and name.

FROM THIS

Builder beige and all empty!

another angle.  cute dog not included.

TO THIS

new wainscoting, wood trip and paint
crib and rug from Decor 4 Kids (love that place!)

the other side of the room - dresser/changing table

good ol' Costco for the closet organizer with canvas bins

and Mr. Harley Pants staking his claim.  At first he was just intrigued, and now he is lounging on the rug centered under the ceiling fan. Can you blame him?  It's 95 degrees outside...

the proof is in the puddin'

I am growing - I swear!  We had an appointment + ultrasound last Friday (at 32 wks + 2 days) and everything went great!  I have been measuring behind and most recently was 2 weeks behind.  Hence, the ultrasound.  But, while I was still now 1 week behind, the baby was 1 week ahead.  Yep - you read that right.  We are living in some tight quarters!  It's too bad we don't live in Manhattan, this baby would already be used to no space!

We did see hair and baby fat rolls (or skin rolls, whatever!) which was fun. But, baby Glenn was not interested in rolling over to show us his/her face.  So - our best photo was of a foot.

thirty

weeks.

How did that happen?

The nesting bug has hit our house, and not just for me. While I feel the constant need to clean/arrange/move things around/piddle around the house - David has been motoring on projects inside and out.  The 4-5 nights in the last two weeks that we are still awake at midnight have me a little concerned.  But - I have promised myself that July is the month of saying NO to commitments. Wish me luck :)

In the past week, David re-edged our beds/trees, built up the beds in front, spread 4 yards of mulch (until it was dark!), secured the carpenter and painter for the nursery and oversaw that project.  Not to mention all of the other stuff like mowing, etc.

I am super excited about the molding and paint in the nursery - and that the furniture gets delivered TODAY!  Happy 30 weeks to me!

It could be a short or long 10 weeks - who knows.  But, so far feeling great still. I did realize this week that my bending over to weed the beds (which I love to do) is short-lived as it not only hurts, but is hard to stand up from.  lovely.  despite feeling old, the heat hasn't been bad and I have yet to swell!  woo hoo!

Stay tuned for photos of the belly and nursery!

babymoon

David and I usually enjoy vacation in June each year - so we moved it up a little earlier and called it a babymoon this year!  Why not jump on the bandwagon and find a reason to vacation in Mexico?  No reason not to!

What I wasn't expecting was how different pool and beach time would be when I couldn't nap on my belly! I moved, turned, and re-arranged constantly.  But, somehow managed to relax.  somehow....  ha!

cheers!  Toasting to a week of relaxin'

Let the bump pics begin!
