this guy

has been pretty incredible this week. Well, I guess Harley has too, but I am talking about the human guy in the photo.

I don't know if it is his form of nesting, his need to be the man of the house and take care of everything or just the realization that I can't do anything around the house this week  - but he has been motoring around to get things done.

The funniest thing for me this week?  David rushes into the house all flustered with his arms full of random stuff.  As he dumps it on the counter he proclaims "Aren't you proud of me for not using plastic bags?  This is from FOUR STORES!"  crack. me. up.

of course I am proud, considering he balked at not using plastic bags, among other things, and has really started to get behind and even lead some things around this house to make it more green.  and I love that he loves Fresh Market now, and gets excited about local sweet corn, and chooses good meat and is just cute all around of course. duh.

Just a little shout out to DG, before this blog turns to baby Glenn-only updates.  He is working hard, continuing to cycle and still make sure this house doesn't fall apart.  I really really hope this bedrest ends on Monday so I can nest more too!

the road to baby

just got a little bit more exciting....or boring for me...depending on how you look at it.

Let's recap - 35wk5day appointment today.  Strep B test as expected and first "exam" of the baby carrier (aka me).  Well, if only I could have captured the look on the Doc's face, and then mine as well, when he said we were 4 cm dilated.

Um, what?

Oh, and very effaced (didn't give a % or anything, just used the words "very soft")

Um, huh?

Now, I know that we can stay this way for a long long time in the world of labor, but the fact that I am now on what is pretty much bed rest for the rest of the week made me think that the Doc isn't expecting us to stick around 4cm for long.

My thought process: holy crap, how can I miss work, I gave myself august 1 as the date to be ready, who will go to my meetings, how will the work get done, etc. etc. nothing about me or the baby's health, mind you.

David's thought process: holy crap, we need a baby name (2 actually), how to get his wife home asap, how is he going to train/ride this week, asking the Doc to tell me that I can't work and he means it!

The Doc's thought process: let's be positive! telling me that I won't be in labor for 25 hours when it happens considering the dilation is 40% complete, and that I won't go full term (therefore not a 10lb baby most likely!) all things that are true and I can appreciate too

So - there you have it.  This baby isn't coming now, but apparently isn't going to wait until August 24th.

I guess I should start working on that baby book....

*big* baby day

literally.  Two baby boys born today, and both weighed in at nearly 9 pounds.  Holy moly!  I am not going to lie - that makes me a little nervous!

But, more than nervous, it makes me really excited!  I am the next person on our baby boom list.  I am in my 35th week.  And, as everyone likes to remind me that "anything can happen."  i.e. pack our bag!

I had a great massage today and love love love Megan and her magical hands!  It felt great and came at a great time when I was exhausted from heat and work.  I just need to get a few pedicures on the calendar too :)

So, from now until baby it is time to shop, relax and follow any and every old wives tale to bring on this baby on time!  Erin and the kiddos are coming!!  So, pray for an on-time or few days early arrival.  Do you think "operation walk the baby out" or better known to most as the Indiana State Fair is an old wives tale??

I have some belly pics to upload and will get to that soon!  Until then, it's back to air conditioning and laying around.  Oh the life :)

sneak peek

The nursery is coming along - so much so that David claims we can bring a baby home - no problem! I know he is right (sigh) but there are still "touches" that will happen eventually.  Maybe after the little one arrives and we know the sex and name.

FROM THIS

Builder beige and all empty!

another angle.  cute dog not included.

TO THIS

new wainscoting, wood trip and paint
crib and rug from Decor 4 Kids (love that place!)

the other side of the room - dresser/changing table

good ol' Costco for the closet organizer with canvas bins

and Mr. Harley Pants staking his claim.  At first he was just intrigued, and now he is lounging on the rug centered under the ceiling fan. Can you blame him?  It's 95 degrees outside...

the proof is in the puddin'

I am growing - I swear!  We had an appointment + ultrasound last Friday (at 32 wks + 2 days) and everything went great!  I have been measuring behind and most recently was 2 weeks behind.  Hence, the ultrasound.  But, while I was still now 1 week behind, the baby was 1 week ahead.  Yep - you read that right.  We are living in some tight quarters!  It's too bad we don't live in Manhattan, this baby would already be used to no space!

We did see hair and baby fat rolls (or skin rolls, whatever!) which was fun. But, baby Glenn was not interested in rolling over to show us his/her face.  So - our best photo was of a foot.

Here are a few recent belly shots:

 Week 31 + 1 day

Week 32 + 5 days
Happy 4th of July!!
